It took a 5-hour bus ride (including delays and going through immigration and the border)

A 3-hour ferry ride (including stopovers to different drop off points)

and a 40-minute car ride
to get to my home away from home for the weekend.
There’s nothing much to say, really. It was simply the getaway I needed.
Life here is slow paced.
You wake up to the sound of the waves.
You open your window and you are greeted by the shimmering sunlight reflected by the vast open waters.
You step out of your room and dig your toes into the warm sand.
Then, you pretty much do nothing.
Just let the calmness overtake you.
The best part? You get to do it the whole day.
Yes, that was my quick escape to calmness at Tioman Island, Malaysia.
I went on this quick getaway with the purpose of just taking a break from everything.
I got to step back and just refresh.
And it couldn’t have ended any better.
The whole experience was punctuated by a reassuring promise.
