Nestled between Phuket and Krabi is a secluded island called Koh Yao Yai. Translated as “Big Long Island”, this enchanting island was my final stop for my birthday week solo trip.
See Part 1 here and Part 2 here.
I rode a small boat from Phuket to go to Koh Yao Yai.
Save the best for last, they all say. And I definitely did.
I stayed at a resort named Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa. (Website: http://www.santhiya.com/kohyaoyai/ )
It was a tropical island paradise!
The rooms and villas rested atop a small hill by the beach
and were accessible by small wooden cars.
This luxury resort is not like any other resorts I’ve been to.
The facade and architecture of the whole place were consistently native and cultural.
It has a wide range of facilities and offers various activities such as Thai Kickboxing and Muay Thai lessons.
They also have a spa!
While the exteriors have already exceeded my expectations, imagine my reaction when I stepped into my room.
Oh. My. Goodness.
It was like a honeymoon suite!
The room came with a balcony, a breathtaking view,
AND a bathtub!
The place was huuuuuge.
It had a daybed too
and little freebies!
The furnishings were so intricate
from the bedroom to the bathroom.
The room was just so beautiful, I didn’t want to leave.
And so I stayed in, zoned out, and didn’t go out until the next day. 🙂
Gotta make the most out of what I paid for, right? Hahaha.
I started the day with a breakfast buffet.
Which I had by the beach. The food was amazing! I pretty much stayed there until they closed down the buffet. Haha!
Then I spent the rest of the afternoon by the waterfall swimming pool.
I was one happy birthday girl. 🙂
Sadly, it all had to end somehow.
It was time to go home.
9 days of exploring Thailand on my own.
Spending my birthday week with strangers.
Discovering the unfamiliar.
Yeahp. I couldn’t have spent my 25th birthday any better. 🙂
